Cinduri had been living with her stepmother and stepsister because an epidemic of cholera had swept through her village and her parents had died. A great white snake rose out of the lake. The snake became her godfather. Godfather snake fed Cinduri every day. The Crown Prince was coming to their village to celebrate the 9 Days of the Navaratri Festival. Godfather snake dress Cinduri smartly and warned Cinduri to return when the first candle was lit. The Crown prince found one of Cinduri's anklet. Cinduri's food fitted the anklet. Cinduri married the Crown Prince.
